Cathay Cargo likely to shift Mumbai ops to Navi Mumbai International Airport

Mr Tim Wong, General Manager of Cargo Service Delivery at Cathay Cargo, has been quoted as saying that the regular Mumbai service will move to Navi Mumbai International Airport while refurbishment work is carried out at the cargo area at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The new airport began domestic commercial operations on December 25 and is scheduled to start international flights on July 15. In addition to the Mumbai shift, Cathay Cargo has added Astana, Kazakhstan, as a stop on its network. This change comes as the Middle East conflict continues. Previously, the carrier operated Asia-Europe freighters
via Dubai, but after the conflict began, it switched to direct flights on that route. Those direct flights limited payload capacity, and in April the company indicated it was looking for alternative mid-points. Mr Wong commented that the intermediate stops for European freighters are
moving from India to Astana until the end of the summer season, while Dubai freighter operations remain suspended, according to a report.
