Noida International Airport welcomes its first freighter flight

The successful arrival of the first freighter flight at Noida International Airport (Jewar) is a major milestone in the airport’s journey toward becoming a key logistics and cargo gateway for North India, emphasised a communique.

Operated by Afcom Cargo, the Boeing 737-800 freighter carried a mix of e-commerce shipments, mobile phones, auto components, engineering goods and other high-value cargo. The flight’s successful handling demonstrated the airport’s readiness to support dedicated cargo operations, including aircraft handling, ground support services, cargo processing, security screening and end-to-end logistics coordination.

What makes this achievement particularly significant is that it validates the operational capability of the airport’s cargo infrastructure ahead of full-scale commercial operations. From cargo acceptance and warehouse processing to aircraft turnaround and despatch planning, every step of the operation required seamless coordination between the airline, airport operator, ground handling teams, Customs authorities, security agencies and logistics service providers.

For the logistics and freight forwarding community, this development offers several long-term advantages:

* Additional air cargo capacity for the NCR and North India market

* Reduced dependency on existing congested airport cargo terminals

* Faster connectivity for e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, electronics and perishables

* Enhanced multimodal logistics integration through road and future rail connectivity

* New opportunities for freight forwarders, airlines, 3PLs, warehouse operators and exporters

With its strategic location near the Yamuna Expressway and upcoming logistics parks, Noida International Airport is well-positioned to evolve into a major cargo hub connecting manufacturing clusters across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Haryana, Rajasthan and beyond, the communique highlighted.
