Union Civil Aviation Minister Mr Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu conducted a comprehensive progress review of the Dholera International Airport in Gujarat, confirming that 80% of the overall construction work is complete. The state-of-the-art terminal building is 75% finished, while the Air Traffic Control tower, primary runway, and taxiway have reached 100% completion. Designed as an ‘Aerotropolis,’ Dholera is India’s first airport integrated alongside a manufacturing hub, futuristic green city, and semiconductor cluster. The site will feature a 25,000-square-metre passenger terminal and a 2,500-square-metre cargo terminal to support the regional industrial ecosystem. Multimodal connectivity highlights include a premium six-lane highway and a high-speed rail corridor linking directly to the terminal. Notably, the location will host a final assembly line for India’s first civilian ‘Make in India’ aircraft via a MoU between Embraer and AdAviation Systems. The Ministry aims to operationalise the airport by September or October, said a report.
