Akasa Air to operate daily flights to Abu Dhabi from Mumbai; to expand fleet by 200 aircraft

Akasa Air has expanded its global presence by adding Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, as another international destination. Starting from July 11, 2024, Akasa Air will operate daily direct flights connecting Abu Dhabi with Mumbai. Meanwhile, the airline, which currently has a fleet of 24 Boeing 737 Max planes and runs over 900 flights weekly, expects over 200 aircraft to join its fleet over the next eight years, CEO Vinay Dube said. He added that it has placed an order for 226 Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Akasa Air flies to Doha and Riyadh in the international segment, soon to be joined by Abu Dhabi. The airline has also begun ticket sales for Jeddah and has secured traffic rights for Kuwait and Medina, said a report.
