Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, recently laid the foundation stone for the proposed Bhogapuram International Airport, to be developed as a greenfield project at an estimated cost of Rs 4,592 crore for phase 1. The total land area of the airport will be 2,203.26 acres with CAT I enabled runaway spread across 3,800 metres and a cargo terminal in 5,000 sq. metres. The airport is expected to become a growth engine for the development of the state, especially the Northern Andhra region, as per a report.
