Noida Airport conducts first flight validation test, launch in 2025

The Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) conducted the first flight validation test for Noida International Airport ahead of the airport’s commercial opening in April next year. An IndiGo passenger flight, with a full crew and staff from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), carried out the crucial trial run. The test involved technical assessments, along with take-off and landing manoeuvres on the airport’s runway. The data collected during the exercise will be reviewed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for further evaluation. Validation flights, also called proving flights, are integral to the certification process, ensuring compliance with safety, reliability and operational standards. As part of the DGCA manual, these flights simulate real-world operations to evaluate the compatibility of the airport’s infrastructure, procedure and systems with regulatory requirements, as per a report.
