Menzies Aviation awarded IATA’s CEIV Li-batt certification; expands to 300 airports

Menzies Aviation, the leading service partner to the world’s airports and airlines, has announced it has been awarded IATA’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators Lithium Batteries (CEIV Li-batt) certification for its cargo operations at Macau International Airport (MFM).

Awarded by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), this prestigious certification is given to businesses that consistently meet the stringent international standards of lithium battery handling and transportation. The certification process saw a rigorous assessment of Menzies’ cargo procedures, training programs, and operational practices for the transport of these potentially hazardous materials, which according to IATA, represent one third of the dangerous goods transported by air.

Menzies Macau is the first location across the Menzies network to receive this certification, with other locations set to follow.

As a globally recognized certification, CEIV Li-batt assures airline customers that Menzies adheres to best practices in the safe handling, packaging, and transportation of lithium batteries, which are widely used in consumer electronics, electric vehicles, and other critical industries. The accreditation also positions Menzies Aviation to support the growing demand for lithium battery shipments while minimizing risk and ensuring compliance with international regulations.

At 300 airports

Menzies Aviation has also announced a major milestone in its global expansion, reaching a total of 300 airports worldwide. This growth underscores the company’s continued commitment to becoming the undisputed number one supplier of aviation services on a global scale.

The latest addition to its extensive network is Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), the largest and busiest airport in Malaysia. In 2023, KUL managed 47.2 million passengers, 980,040 tonnes of cargo, and 819,026 aircraft movements, solidifying its position as a key hub in Southeast Asia. This strategic expansion into KUL marks an important step in strengthening Menzies’ global presence across six continents.

As part of its strategic vision, Menzies’ announcement is a testament to its efforts to improve operational efficiencies, enhance customer service, and contribute to the safety and sustainability of the aviation industry, emphasised a release.
