Kandla Airport to be modernised

The Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) meeting held earlier this month at Kandla Airport (Kutch, Gujarat) discussed making the airport modern and convenient. The meeting was under the chairmanship of Mr Vinod Bhai Chavda, MP from Kutch Morbi. Anjar MLA Mr Trikambhai Changa and Gandhidham MLA Ms Maltiben Maheshwari were also present, as per a release.

The Committee was informed by the Airport Director, Mr Rosy Ravindran, that the administrative work for the construction of a new passenger terminal building for Kandla Airport has been approved by New Delhi, at an estimated cost of Rs 72 crore. Besides, other issues like beautification of the airport road, public transport facility to the airport and increasing the number of flights to and fro were also discussed.

The AAC suggested a new flight from Kandla to Ahmedabad, a flight from Kandla to Mumbai in the morning, construction of a road from the city to the airport, and talking to a private taxi agency to provide taxi service at reasonable rates. Kandla Airport Advisory Committee members Mr Jitendra Jain (Sethia), Mr Sachin Kakrecha, Mr Mukesh Lakhwani, Provincial Officer Mr Mehul Desai, airport officials, airline officials, and police administration were also present at the meeting, the release added.
