India, China to fast-track restarting of direct air services

India and China have agreed to expedite the resumption of direct air services and will continue to stabilise and rebuild ties, according to the Indian Foreign Ministry. It came from the Ministry after a meeting of Indian Foreign Secretary Mr Vikram Misri and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, who is visiting India. The neighbours agreed in January to work on resolving trade and economic differences, a move expected to boost their aviation sectors.  In recent years, both countries have been relaxing their attitudes because of commercial necessity. Peaking in 2019 there were some 2,588 scheduled flights a year between the two countries: averaging seven one-way flights a day. Delhi was the focal point for services from Shanghai and Guangzhou, with China Southern and Eastern the two dominant airlines operating two daily flights between the countries, as per a report.
