India Post launches country’s largest drone mail network across 150 routes

In a major push toward technology-driven logistics, India Post has partnered with drone delivery start-up Skye Air Mobility to transport mail bags across remote terrains in Himachal Pradesh and Assam. Under the agreement, the entities are building India’s largest postal drone network covering 150 routes to connect 110 locations in Himachal Pradesh and 40 locations in Assam. This deployment targets severe last-mile challenges in regions frequently cut off by heavy snowfall, mountainous

terrain and seasonal monsoon floods. The autonomous drones can carry payloads up to 10 kilograms over routes ranging from 5 to 80 km using artificial intelligence-driven navigation systems. Officials noted that the technology slashes transit times significantly, reducing an arduous journey on the Mandi-Rehardhar route from several hours down to just seven minutes while enabling real-time cargo tracking, a step that advances India’s vision of becoming a global drone hub by 2030, said a report.
