Miami Airport logs sixth straight cargo record, defies global slowdown

Miami International Airport (MIA) continued its remarkable growth streak in 2025, posting a sixth consecutive year of record cargo volumes as freight traffic surged 13.6% to nearly 3.5 million tonnes. The performance further cements MIA’s position as the busiest US airport for international air cargo and a critical trade gateway for the Americas. Passenger traffic also remained robust. Airport authorities attributed the sustained growth to strong regional demand, expanding connectivity and ongoing infrastructure upgrades under MIA’s $9 billion Modernisation in Action programme, aimed at supporting future cargo and passenger expansion, as per a report.
