BLR Airport ships 60 million roses, tonnage soars 64 pc this Valentine season

Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru, operated by Bangalore International Airport Limited, shipped over 60 million rose stems this Valentine’s season, clocking 38% year-on-year growth in volumes and a 64% jump in tonnage to more than 2,700 metric tonnes. International shipments touched 305 MT across 26 overseas destinations, with Singapore leading demand, followed by Kuala Lumpur, Abu Dhabi, New York and Kuwait. New additions included Los Angeles, London Gatwick, Dallas Fort Worth, Toronto and Orlando. Domestic cargo surged 79% to 2,402 MT, serving 47 cities. Delhi and Kolkata led volumes, while Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Lucknow recorded over 150% growth. The airport’s temperature-controlled cargo infrastructure and real-time tracking systems supported the surge. In CY2025, BLR handled 520,985 MT of cargo and 43.82 million passengers, as per a report.
