GMR Aero led consortium-GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL) has announced that Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has been honoured with the esteemed titles of “National Energy Leader” and “Excellent Energy Efficient Unit” at the 26th National Award Ceremony for ‘Excellence in Energy Management,’ an event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) earlier this month. This recognition marks a significant achievement for RGIA, as it has received the “National Energy Leader” accolade for the seventh consecutive year and the “Excellent Energy Efficient Unit” distinction for the ninth time.
The awards aim to identify and honour organisations that have demonstrated outstanding performance in energy management, and to facilitate the sharing of best practices and innovative technologies across industries. The 2025 edition featured over 570 participating companies from across the country.
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) is known for its sustainable practices and dedication to energy conservation. The airport’s ongoing initiatives to minimise its carbon footprint and enhance energy efficiency through innovative strategies have garnered recognition from industry experts. Over the years, the airport operations have resulted in significant energy savings, as per a release.
